Budget

Saint Isidoro, Borgo di Tragliata

These are difficult times to plan an event and even more challenging when it’s your very own wedding. There are so many surprise expenses.  Often when you think of planning your wedding you will immediately think of the reception meal and your dress.  After those two main expenses everything else goes into a big group of stuff that needs to be paid for in some way.

What I really wish couples would talk about and then make a list of what they want to remember most about their wedding day.  When you think about your wedding pictures, what do you hope will stand out the most.  Remember it’s those pictures that will remain forever and of course your memories.  Then with that list you can begin to decide where to invest your budget.

Of course as an event designer I pay attention to how the event will look when it is photographed. When I suggest that an arrangement be placed in a particular place, it is because I know that it will add to the beauty of the photographs. I try to understand which items have special meaning for the bride so that the memories of the wedding day will be extra special. The desires of the groom are also important to me and I do my best to include them somewhere in my designs. My goal is to maximize your budget to create beautiful photographs and memories that will last a lifetime.

Let’s email, Skype or meet in person to discuss your dreams and your budget so I can help you create the memories that will last a lifetime.

I sincerely look forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers,

Debra

Villa Palazzola

This may be your first time to hear about Villa Palazzola but it won’t be your last.  When I received an email August 2011 about an interview as florist for the Villa I wasn’t very excited because I had never heard of it.  Like most of us I immediately “Googled” it and was surprised by the beautiful and informative website www.palazzola.it but all that did not prepare me for the beauty of the place and the kindness of the staff.

After that initial visit I was literally hoping that they would choose me and shortly afterwards I received the email that I was hoping for to confirm the request for my design talents at Villa Palazzola. Over the past year I have worked a number of times at the Villa for weddings and other events. The staff really does make you feel welcomed.  They seem to find a way to satisfy the most incredible  requests from their guests.

The church is just the right size.  It looks decorated with just one arrangement or breathtaking with a full array of decorations. The Priest is friendly and listens to the couple as they talk about their dreams for creating a new family.

The reception area is normally outside because the view is so beautiful that I can’t accurately describe it. Just in case it really does rain there is a classic dining room which I personally love since it has Imperial tables. The food is wholesome and delicious and the staff takes good care of you, what more could you ask for on your wedding day?  Ah yes, decorations by me designed specifically for you.

Call them and talk to Joyce Hunter about making your wedding day a very special event at Villa Palazzola.

Looking forward to meet you,

Debra

The Bridal Exit

Many brides do not give much consideration to decorations for her departure from home to the church on the day of her wedding. My guess is that this is mostly due to the economy. If savings have to be made, this is one of the first places where decorations will be sacrificed. But when a woman decides to create a dramatic exit I am there to help her with designs.

Probably one of my personal favorites was the Palm tree decoration that I created recently for a woman of Ethiopian heritage who wanted to create the feel of the exit used in the Ethiopian culture.

Even the groom can get involved. An Albanese groom came to me with a box of feathers and asked that they be incorporated into the exit decorations for the bride. My desire as a designer for weddings is to realize the bride and grooms dreams in the prettiest way possible. So here is the brides exit decorations.

The Italian bride usually goes for something more traditional for her culture. This classic design can be used anywhere and in any culture and still be considered chic.

When a bride lives in a private home, I try to incorporate what is already there to create the exit decorations. In this way the bride has decorations while maintaining the feel of her family home.

Just ten more days and the local wedding season begins. Even though many people are cutting back on their spending I have noticed that many brides are spending money on exit decorations. Maybe leaving home has become more symbolic in some way. I will continue to design bridal exits that reflect the culture and personal style of my clients.

Happy Easter and Passover!!
