Borgo di Tragliata

Borgo di Tragliata
The Borgo remains one of my favorite places to work.  The possibility to have all aspects of the wedding day at one location makes it easier for not only the floral designer to manage but also for Couples to have their destination wedding.  The Borgo has a staff that speaks English and German which creates an ease for those couples organizing from outside Italy.   DebraFlower is one of the florists on the suggested list of suppliers for English speaking clients at the Borgo.

 The communion table
The Top table
 The Guest tables

Bridal bouquet and Bridesmaid bouquets are all delivered about two hours prior to the ceremony.  Afterwards we take just a short walk on over to Saint Isidore's Church to set up all of the decorations so the Church will be completed before the arrival of the guests and more importantly the Groom.  We personally make sure that the buttonholes have put on each Groomsman correctly.  Our staff is always on hand as the bride arrives to enter the Church just in case she has some special last minute need.  Finally after the ceremony we remove all of the deocrations, ensure that the Church is in order and the we walk to the reception to set up, often using flowers from the Church to save on expenses and show kindness to the environment by reusing flowers whenever possible.  All of this is done with minimal use of cars or trucks.

Oh how I love to work at the Borgo!!!

See you soon,

Love of the Sea

The 2014 event season began the beginning of April and continued right through August holidays and Yes, me and my staff all gave up our traditional summer holidays in order to design decorations for our clients.

The Sea Theme

S. Alessio - Aventino

Our first big wedding was for a couple who absolutely love the sea.  Their request was to have an elegant decoration using the sea theme in a sophistocated way. Their ceremony was held at the Sant'Alessio in Aventino.

We received so many compliments from not only the Bride and Groom and their guests but from people on Facebook who have seen the designs on the DebraFlower facebook page.

The Sea theme began at the home of the bride where we made a special exit for her, onto the church and followed to the reception.

The little beach wagon brought a smile to everyone's face as they prepared for the traditional throwing of the rice.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did putting it together.

Thanks,

Debra

Outside the Church

Santa Maria la Stella

Decoration outside the church for a wedding is a wonderful touch.  Decoration puts the guests in a cheerful mood and almost welcomes them to enter.  It’s a symbol that something special is about to take place. Unfortunately, it’s not often that the budget for decoration allows a client to put flowers outside the church.  However, I encourage my clients to allocate even a small amount to create a simple decoration that reminds guest that a special ceremony is about to take place.

Remember to save just a little bit of your budget to allow for decoration outside the Church.

Bridal Bouquet

The easiest choice for your wedding day is of course the formal round shape bouquet in cream or white. What you may not realize is that there are literally hundreds of styles to choose from.  I’m a traditional girl so if I was getting married today I would probably opt for that simple bouquet. However my job is to realize the dreams of other ladies on their wedding day and for this reason I have attended a number of specialization courses to learn how to create various different styles of bouquets.

One of the latest trends is the brooch bouquet. Although many people produce this kind of bouquet, a trained florist is the best person to design a brooch bouquet since we have been trained in how to construct a bouquet regardless of the material.

Remember that any bouquet that you have seen on my website can also be constructed with silk flowers.

You can email me, skype, facebook, Facetime or make a phonecall and we can discuss your dream wedding.  It's my hope to make your dreams come true.

All the best,

Debra

Budget

Saint Isidoro, Borgo di Tragliata

These are difficult times to plan an event and even more challenging when it’s your very own wedding. There are so many surprise expenses.  Often when you think of planning your wedding you will immediately think of the reception meal and your dress.  After those two main expenses everything else goes into a big group of stuff that needs to be paid for in some way.

What I really wish couples would talk about and then make a list of what they want to remember most about their wedding day.  When you think about your wedding pictures, what do you hope will stand out the most.  Remember it’s those pictures that will remain forever and of course your memories.  Then with that list you can begin to decide where to invest your budget.

Of course as an event designer I pay attention to how the event will look when it is photographed. When I suggest that an arrangement be placed in a particular place, it is because I know that it will add to the beauty of the photographs. I try to understand which items have special meaning for the bride so that the memories of the wedding day will be extra special. The desires of the groom are also important to me and I do my best to include them somewhere in my designs. My goal is to maximize your budget to create beautiful photographs and memories that will last a lifetime.

Let’s email, Skype or meet in person to discuss your dreams and your budget so I can help you create the memories that will last a lifetime.

I sincerely look forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers,

Debra

Villa Palazzola

This may be your first time to hear about Villa Palazzola but it won’t be your last.  When I received an email August 2011 about an interview as florist for the Villa I wasn’t very excited because I had never heard of it.  Like most of us I immediately “Googled” it and was surprised by the beautiful and informative website www.palazzola.it but all that did not prepare me for the beauty of the place and the kindness of the staff.

After that initial visit I was literally hoping that they would choose me and shortly afterwards I received the email that I was hoping for to confirm the request for my design talents at Villa Palazzola. Over the past year I have worked a number of times at the Villa for weddings and other events. The staff really does make you feel welcomed.  They seem to find a way to satisfy the most incredible  requests from their guests.

The church is just the right size.  It looks decorated with just one arrangement or breathtaking with a full array of decorations. The Priest is friendly and listens to the couple as they talk about their dreams for creating a new family.

The reception area is normally outside because the view is so beautiful that I can’t accurately describe it. Just in case it really does rain there is a classic dining room which I personally love since it has Imperial tables. The food is wholesome and delicious and the staff takes good care of you, what more could you ask for on your wedding day?  Ah yes, decorations by me designed specifically for you.

Call them and talk to Joyce Hunter about making your wedding day a very special event at Villa Palazzola.

Looking forward to meet you,

Debra
